With Before and After Photos
When we first bought our house we knew that one of the biggest projects we would take on was the master bathroom. The orange colored walls, closed in shower, and pink bathtub didn’t quite go with the decor and renovations we had done with the rest of the house. This was the ONLY project in the house, besides our kitchen countertops, that we decided to hire a contractor for, and it was WORTH it. Painting the bathroom white, replacing the tub & vanity, and knocking out the shower wall made a complete Marble Master Bathroom Transformation. At the end of the post, I have linked decor items, be sure to check them out!
The Vanity Area
Before:
The vanity countertops were originally a speckled type of granite along with a visibly DIY done backdrop on the wall. Lots of tile from the backdrop was sinking in and uneven. Originally we were planning on keeping the vanity and replacing the backdrop, however, our contractor found a great deal that we couldn’t pass up on a marble vanity top that he could cut out.
The mirrors had thick heavy frames and were just not our style, so we got some inexpensive frameless mirrors from Lowe’s. These mirrors come in all different sizes and could be great for an exercise room wall as well! We sold the current frames, bought new ones, and put them higher up on the wall to give a more open feel.
A simple way we completed this marble look was with a black vase to contrast the white. I’ve found that with white and grey marble, it helps to add a black accent whether that be a candle, soap dispenser, vase, etc. to really add depth to the space. The vase came from Amazon and the simple greenery you can snag from Walmart or Target!

The Bathtub & Shower
Before:
The bathtub just didn’t quite do it for us with the swirly pink design and rusted handles. We had a choice to make, refinish the bathtub with white paint or to completely rip it out and replace it. After a long process of crunching numbers we decided it would be best to rip out and replace it, as that would overall be more quality + add value to the home.
After ripping out the bathtub, the wall was replaced with tile that matched the floor tile. For the freestanding tub we found a great deal from a friend who had just bought a brand new tub but was deciding to sell it, but I will link it from the original source as the price is still really good! The window on the side that was outdated was replaced with a cost effective modern window from Lowes.
In the shower area, there was little room to move around and the wall closed off the flow of the space. Instead of putting in a siding door, which would have been very expensive, we replaced the wall with a clear single door with an opening to walk in. This opened up the space and gave more room in the shower without having to chunk up too much change. We put in big blocks of marble tile as well as hexagon marble flooring tile from Floor and Decor that gave the shower a luxurious feel. All of these changes made the space feel welcoming and bright.

Toilet
Before:
Last but not least, the toilet area. This area felt like the tunnel of shame. It was dark and dirty. We took down the green curtains, replaced the toilet, and added a mirror to make the space feel bigger. The hardest aspect of renovating can be working with an awkward layout but it also allows for more creativity to make the most of the space!

Our goal was to get this bathroom transformation done before Ryder was born, and we got it DONE right before his arrival. This made postpartum a lot more tolerable with a beautiful new bathroom….cause you spend a lot of time there in the days after birth.
We are so thankful that the contractors were able to transform this space in the way we envisioned and turn it from a closed in dark space to bright and happy. The only thing I would probably change is doing a darker grout like grey with the flooring tile since white gets dirty so easy, but overall we are SO happy with it. The marble floor tile, Turkish towels, white tub, and bright space all makes it a peaceful place to come to at the end of the day, and we couldn’t be more grateful for our marble master bathroom transformation!
