Here is our white painted brick exterior makeover with before and after pictures!
When we first bought this house we really thought about painting the outside, but with so many interior projects, we put the exterior on hold. Fast Forward to a couple years and Brance began making dining tables as a side business (Shoutout to Sandalwood Lane). One of his workers used to do house painting (amongst other home services) for a business. We decided to set a couple days aside for him, his son, and Brance to paint the house and they did a beautiful job.
THE PROCESS
The process began by power washing the entire house. The next day they began taping down windows and using primer then letting that set for a day. When the primer is put on, the paint is very bright, so beware that the first coat will not be what the actual paint looks like. After primer was put on, they began spraying paint followed by rolling the paint on the brick. We chose not to paint the trim so it was fairly easy and quick to do. After they finished the paint on the house, they did a latex coat of paint on the roof to darken it. In total, including power washing and touch ups it took 4 1/2 days.
BEFORE AND AFTER
THE COLORS WE PICKED
For the exterior brick we picked the color Shoji White in Sherwin Williams. We picked this color because it is a more off-white than the usual Alabaster and felt like it would flow better in our neighborhood. I absolutely love the color and feel that it is a perfect exterior white for a house. It is important to note that exterior white will look brighter than the samples because of the natural sunlight outside. We decided to paint the door & roof in Urbane Bronze.
Brance added a cedar beam above the door as well as cedar pieces of wood below the main windows. I am not sure if we will keep the wooden pieces below the windows as we may replace them with flower bins, but as everything with a house, it’s a process! Brance also added a small wooden fence around the air conditioning unit.
FIXTURES AND DECOR
We decided to add 2 big black lanterns at the center to make the entryway grand as well as a smaller solar fixture at the end of the house next to a window. To make the front feel more full I added a bench (from Sandalwood Lane), a pillow, and a throw rug under the door mat. I added two big faux cedar plants with cement vases from Hobby Lobby to top the look.
SHOP THE POST
We are so thankful we did this on a whim and it turned out so beautiful. I haven’t missed the red brick yet! Excitingly enough, Brance (along with his awesome guys) is adding painting services to our side business Sandalwood Lane! So if you are in the DFW area and looking for an exterior painting job, hit us up!
I pray each and everyone of you have a blessed weekend,
Cherise
