From Mountains & trees, this Woodland Nursery was a labor of love and turned out so dreamy and fun for our baby boy!
I say “Reveal” but the truth is I am doing this blog post 11 months after Ryder’s birth! I have an interesting perspective because I am sharing what it looks like now post baby as we tweaked a couple things to make it more functional since he is now officially in this room instead of a bassinet in our room. I still sit in this room and breathe in peace as I look around at all the sweet details and love that we poured into it. So, with no further or due, here is our woodland nursery “reveal”!
Picking our Theme
At just 15 weeks pregnant we found out we were having a baby boy and we started to dream about what the future would look like. One thing that came to mind was what we would be doing with the nursery. As I began searching for ideas, I came across a couple pictures of woodland themed nurseries and knew that was it! Next thing we knew we were buying decor and onesies that involved bears and foxes. My mom even threw an amazing woodland baby shower with the cutest animal and mountain details. I felt like it was such a perfect idea that embodied peace and adventure all in one!
Accent Wall
To add some contrast to the room and make it a bit more fun we decided to add a grey accent wall. With the snowy mountains and woodland vibe, I wanted it to feel almost “cloudy” like it was about to snow. This color was from Sherwin Williams. I am not much of an accent wall type girl but this turned out great and I have no regrets!
Furniture
For furniture we went with the Hemnes Ikea Dresser and Delta Children’s Crib! We picked the Ikea dresser because it was the most cost efficient that included a lot of space. We loved it so much we actually got another one off of Facebook Marketplace for our own room! I chose the Delta Children’s crib because it was a 4 in 1 convertible crib plus it had thick slats around the sides instead of thin ones. I loved the pretty natural wood accent on the legs that matched other wood accents in the room.
Birchwood + Book Shelves
I found birchwood shelves from Pottery Barn that I LOVED, but I didn’t love the price! Brance ended up making a lookalike version with some wood, paint (Sherwin Williams, Color: Pure White) we already had, and birchwood from Hobby Lobby. He did an AMAZING job and I love it even more than the Pottery Barn version!
Activity Center
Not sure this counts as “furniture” but we put an “activity center” in the corner of his room with his snuggle me. Of course, now Ryder is too big for his snuggle me and he has outgrown the wooden play center, but it was perfect for the first 6 months! We recently replaced this corner with his lovevery play gym and added the tent portion of it, so now he has his own little play fort that he loves to spend time in!
Glider
Lastly, the glider! This glider was such a blessing because it was so difficult to find! At the time we began working on the nursery, COVID had hit and everything was short stocked, I could not find a glider with a recliner anywhere. It sounds silly but it was actually a big deal because I knew this would be used over the course of years with all our future babies and not just Ryder. I wanted something quality that we could have years and years to come.
SHOP FURNITURE
Decor
The BIGGEST part of the room was the decor! Most of the items I bought were from Hobby Lobby and I will link as best as I can find them, as well as some items from Etsy, Target, and Amazon. I went to Hobby Lobby on the week that all wall decor was 50% off so I would definitely suggest to hold off on buying nursery decor until the week that the decor is on sale. Hot Tip: Hobby Lobby stuff goes on sale every other week, for instance, wall decor will be full price one week and switch to 50% off the next week!
One of my favorite parts of the room is the little cubby organizer with all the woodland touches from the mountains to the the little fox. This had a lot of fun little elements but also practical! On the bottom two cubbies there is a fox basket and a wooden box, both I put toys in and it works as a great way to incorporate decor + storage. I wanted to have a big letter with the first letter in his name and we found this perfect rusty white color at Hobby Lobby. Overall, it is definitely one of the highlights of the room and something that makes me smile as I rock Ryder before nap time.
A couple of special decor items that I want to highlight. The beautiful wood name above his crib was a special gift from Ryder’s Aunt and Uncle, this name was the perfect piece to complete the room. Second, the framed pictures by his bed. I made the prints on canva, one which is a scripture from Psalms and the other which is “Warrior” which is the meaning of his name. Every time I look at those frames it reminds me of the purpose to speak over his life as we say our prayers over him before bed. My mom painted the “Ryder’s Man Cave” on the Antler Wall decor that we found off Facebook Marketplace!

Organization
After lots of thoughts and consideration, I organized this room to the tea! I will actually say that since I organized I have not re-organized anything differently since he has been born. I thought I would change some things, but it turns out all the research I did paid off! The only thing that I did not have that I added was a laundry basket by the dresser to the throw his clothes in. Originally I just had a small basket in his closet but I quickly changed that into a “pretty” basket that would go along with the decor and also big enough to hold a decent amount of baby clothes…it gets A LOT of use;)
SHOP THE POST
Overall, this nursery has been a haven of peace for me on the hard days, rocking Ryder as his eyes drift away and I lay with him cozied under a blanket in the glider. A place to point and say to him “What does a bear say? RAWR!” A place to begin the mornings with adventure and end the day in solidarity. It is simply a woodland wonderland:)
Thanks for stopping by,
Cherise
